Ban the Bulls?

On Tuesday, schoolgirl Jade Lomas-Anderson was savaged to death by four dogs (believed to be two Bull Mastiffs and two Staffordshire bull terriers.) It must have been a horribly bloody attack and a worst death is hard to imagine. My thoughts first and foremost of course are with Jade and her family/friends but is it now time to review the Dangerous Dogs act? Its been reported that even Jade's mother was afraid of one of her dogs. Why own something you are fearful of? Its wreckless, dangerous and bordering on madness.
The 'pack mentality' is in the dogs blood and no matter how well you raise this type of animal there is always, always a chance the 'switch' could get flicked and a terrible fatality occurs (as happened here.) Anyone who is remotely casual around these breeds shouldn't be allowed to own one in my opinion.
I saw this posted on a forum I frequent by a bull breed owner:

"I own a bull breed and he is a wonderful sweet dog that loves people, but I am aware that these dogs can be dangerous if not brought up correctly. Dogs should be licensed, people should be trained on how to look after dogs correctly and understand how to treat them and there behaviour. If people want dogs so badly they will do the training and pay for the licence!"

Seems very sensible and I agree 100%. As it stands now, anyone can buy a bull terrier type dog and you often see young thugs being pulled along the pavement by one, thinking they enhance a supposed tough guy image. Its become a cliché to say that dangerous dogs are like owning loaded guns but its true.
